Naomi Doessel is a Brisbane-based singer and singing teacher. Originally trained in classical voice at UQ, Naomi took a detour from music as a profession, but kept singing as a hobby including being a member of the City of London Choir, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Yani’s Roaring Fire choirs. Naomi started retraining in contemporary voice with Ingrid James in 2015 after being inspired by contemporary vocal group The Idea of North. With Ingrid’s support and guidance she quickly took to jazz and began performing at the Jazz Singer’s Jam Night regularly, then started putting on her own shows at The Retro Bar, and in May had a sold-out show, Swing, Spice and All Things Vice, at the Brisbane Jazz Club. Naomi is now immersed in the world of jazz in Brisbane as a member of Inversion Vocal Group; the Brisbane Jazz Club committee; the Brisbane Vocal Jazz Festival committe, and as a singing teacher specialising in transitioning to jazz.
