Introducing Sean Andrews
His performance credits are extensive including Australian and International Tours of Phantom of the Opera. A national tour of Pirates of Penzance starring Anthony Warlow and David Hobson. Plus an Australian Premier performances of the roles Chauvalin in The Scarlet Pimpernel and Mr. Andrews in Titanic-the musical.
His opera credits includes more than 40 operas with Opera Australia and Opera Queensland with understudies such as Candide in Berstein’s Candide. He has produced and directed numerous Broadway Hits shows for his company called Musaeus that was based in Sydney but is now looking to take up residence in Brisbane.
Sean has completed his Masters of Music in vocal crossover – the study of the vocal music’s of classical, musical theatre and jazz/contemporary concurrently. This is understood to be a world first. The study of this subject has brought international attention to the techniques used to cross between styles. This can be seen in his peer review article, The World of Vocal Crossover, for the Voice and Speech Review, USA.
Amongst his performance opportunities Sean has been very active teaching a wide and varied styles of music to an equally wide and varied age demographic. His study has seen him somewhat legitimise his belief that good technique is based on solid breath management and use of breath in conjunction with good registration. This leads to multiple techniques to change style through various vocal colors. In other words, good technique is good technique, regardless of style.
His teaching credits include principles and cast members from Phantom of the Opera as well as students that have continued study through the Sydney Conservatorium and WAPA. One such student going onto perform classically in Italy. Another enjoying a role in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Spring Awakening and Boq in the recent Australian production of Wicked.
In the pop arena, his credits include Alex Burnet who established the band, Sparkadia, which has toured across Australia, UK and Europe several times over in the past years with a large fan base in Britain and Germany outside of its native Australia.
Sean now brings to others his unique techniques developed by his performance and tutoring experience in a series of online singing lessons and contemporary workshops.
